Purpose and goal

Business Sweden and the Swedish Energy Agency organized a conference program, March 13 to 14, in connection with Mipim trade fair in Cannes, France (12 to 15 March 2013), where Vinnova, along with six other strategic partners participated. The objective of the project was to promote Swedish experiences, projects, companies and organizations in sustainable urban development (via the Symbiocity concept) and create a networking platform which was achieved through activities before and during the conference and exhibition days in Cannes.

Results and expected effects

Through the project, Sweden was promoted as an innovative country within sustainable urban development and several players, their projects and/or implementations were highlighted. The dedicated website had over 1,300 unique visitors and more than 140 persons (from 20 countries) registered for the conference. Due to extreme transport problems in Europe (because of weather turbulences and strikes) a lower number of persons attended (70 persons from 20 countries). 90% of the project partners established new contacts during the fair.

Approach and implementation

Business Sweden and the Swedish Energy Agency organized during 13 and 14 March, a conference program with 15 speakers (cities, urban planners, architects, technical experts) and several network activities. Marketing was done via dedicated website, mailings, banner on MIPIMs website and twitter.
