Important results from the project
A software plarform, DEFMOD, was developed for floe and cracking models which are based on the development of the microstructure. This means dislocations, cells, twins and grain structure. The software har thrre parts for input, output and for data bases. Some 10 flow models have been implementet into the software. A consortium was created with industrial, University, research institute and Industry cooperation organisations partners.
Expected long term effects
A modern software is now available for microstructure based flow and cracking models. Due to its modularity it is easy to develop for future needs. The existance of DEFMOD now means that industry now has a new tool for material development where experimental work can replaces by simulation. This will speed up the industrial development process.
Approach and implementation
Initially in the Project the software platform DEFMOD was developed for flow and cracking models. This is a good base for future development work. Some 10 models were already implmented during tthe prestudy. the software was tested by agroup of industries. A consortium was created around the software with memebers from industry, university, research institute and industrial cooperation organisations.
