Call Planning grant for international proposal 2025

Important results from the project

RISE unique competences in metrology have been recognised in the new proposal, with contributions to sections about and beyond the "state-of-the-art", as well as specific research tasks. New ways to assess analytical and clinical performance for IVD, where item response theory is used for data on ordinal scales, are in focus. In this EPM/EURAMET application work, RISE research has gained increased attention from expert groups in institutes, academia and industry who have formulated the proposal.

Expected long term effects

The project aims to develop a metrological framework that increases the reliability of infectious disease diagnostics through improved accuracy, standardization and traceability in IVD. It will create common reference materials and methods according to EU Regulation 2017/746 and ISO 17511:2020. The result will be harmonized tests, strengthened public health preparedness and better support for industry, quality and regulatory compliance.

Approach and implementation

The project has consisted of work by an international expert group that has had a series of hybrid meetings (approximately 11) to design a joint application for the current EPM call (https://www.metpart.eu/applicants-2025-s2/health-call-2025-s2.html). A draft application was posted on a Sharepoint site belonging to the coordinator (LGC, UK) and RISE wrote specific sections in the application regarding: current state-of-the-art, steps beyond this and some research tasks in the research plan.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
