Mathleaks Vinn Nu Step 2

Reference number
Coordinator Mathleaks AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 400 000
Project duration August 2013 - May 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The objectives of the project is divided into four parts: 1) Increase the number of solved books so we could sell Mathleaks to more students 2) Communicate with and acquire more users through marketing efforts and through improved search engine optimization, 3) Simplify the product-development 4) Improve the app´s design. All project components have been carried out. However, there were certain challenges (partially resolved). An example is the development of the solver which had to be reworked in order for it to handle harder problems in the future.

Results and expected effects

The result of the project has contributed to a substantial growth rate. In may we had over 12 000 users per month out of which 2100 payed for our premium model. In addition, four schools have purchased Mathleaks for their students. The application has been redesigned, and we have further developed the program used for product-development.

Approach and implementation

The project funds have been disbursed to Mathleaks during four periods with clear goals. This has contributed to a good structure and continuous feedback from Vinnova. The test conducted before the project gave me an insight into what I needed to improve in order to better my work with Mathleaks. During the project period, we have worked with solutions of several books simultaneously and published these solutions despite the fact that the books were not completed. This proved to be a profitable strategy even though we misjudged how quickly the students finished the books chapters.
