Important results from the project
The project strengthened Swedish SMEs’ ability to engage in international research and innovation collaborations through targeted matchmaking, preparation and follow-up linked to Sweden–Canada Innovation Days. It led to new and deepened international contacts, some resulting in continued cooperation. A key outcome is the Sweden–Canada InnoMatch Program, a reusable method for international R&I matchmaking.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to contribute to stronger long-term international R&I collaboration for participating companies, increased ability to navigate complex innovation systems, and greater participation in international programmes such as Horizon Europe. The developed methodology also creates long-term value by enabling more targeted and sustainable internationalisation efforts for a wider group of companies in the future.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented through scouting and selection of companies, structured preparation, targeted meetings and matchmaking in connection with Sweden–Canada Innovation Days, followed by post-activity follow-up. The approach had to be adapted due to changing conditions linked to the state visit, requiring flexibility. Despite this, the core activities were delivered with good quality and the project objectives are considered to have been met. Overall, collaboration worked well.
