Purpose and goal

The overarching goal of the LTLOD@SB-project has been to publish the lexical resources of Språkbanken and DARTs/ConceptCoding.Org - already freely downloadable - also as linked open data (LOD). This goal has been achieved. The resources are now available through two SPARQL endpoints for both human users (through an HTML form) and computer program access (via a web service interface). We have started linking the two sets of resources, and further collaboration between Språkbanken, DART and ConceptCodin.Org is being discussed.

Results and expected effects

The concrete outcomes of the project are a well-defined LOD format for our resources, partial interlinking of the two sets of resources, conversion of five individual lexical resources (together comprising on the order of a quarter of a million lexical entries) into RDF, installation of RDF stores and SPARQL endpoints for providing resource access, external publications, and plans for continued collaboration between Språkbanken, DART and ConceptCoding.Org on publication and use of linked open data.

Approach and implementation

The development activities in the LTLOD@SB project have led to several positive effects. Our organizational competence has been considerably raised concerning LOD, RDF/OWL and lemon , in particular with respect to the practical aspects of the project. Our lexical resources have turned out to have special and unusual characteristics, and we have gained valuable experience from defining their optimal RDF representation as well as from the installation of the RDF store and SPARQL endpoint used for publishing them as linked open data.
