Reference number
Coordinator Linköpings universitet - Institutionen för systemteknik
Funding from Vinnova SEK 7 000 000
Project duration January 2011 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

LINK-SIC is a center for industry-academia cooperation in the area of control systems and signal processing. The objective is to have long-term coalitions for sustained cooperation in areas vital for Swedish system-building industry. After the four years of phase II, we conclude that the designated aims have been achieved both in terms of quantitative indicators and other performance measures. The center has considerable importance for the industry partners and they have a strong commitment to link the R&D at the center to their innovation, product development and knowledge supply.

Results and expected effects

LINK-SIC was evaluated very favorable during the phase II evaluation in spring 2014. The international evaluation team concluded that LINK-SIC is an exceptionally well-run and productive center and a lead example of the INDEC concept. During phase II, several important examples of impact and concrete results of the cooperation between the industries and the academic partners have been obtained including industrial implementation. The academic output includes 16 postgraduate exams (Lic-8; PhD-8), 39 Master´s theses and 70 peer-reviewed scientific papers.

Approach and implementation

LINK-SIC is divided into three focus areas, Aerial Vehicles and Marine Vessels, Industrial Robotics and Automotive Systems. LINK-SIC takes care of situations when need of R&D is found in the products of the industrial partners and when new relevant enabling technologies or research results emerge. During phase II, to further strengthen the strategy and to the follow up the projects, the KPIs have been further developed by adding new means for measures, follow-up and reporting. Eight quantitative indicators have been developed, which are described in detail in the center report.
