Purpose and goal

LIGHTer PhD network activities are devoted to education of PhD students in disciplines with potential impact on lightweight innovation. The networking activities will comprise common course studies for students, industry secondments and an annual research student conference in connection with other LIGHTer activities. This part of the project have had the aim to create a plan and the conditions for implementation of the national research school, LIGHTer PhD network. The plan is presented in an attached report.

Results and expected effects

Lighter PhD network is planned to for a two-year period to recruit 20 PhD students per year. If the long-term financing can be obtained, then the target of 100 doctors in lightweight technology will be trained over a period of 10 years will be fulfilled.

Approach and implementation

Execution: The networking activities will joint PhD courses and seminars, industrial secondments and an annual graduate student conference in coordination with other LIGHTer activities. Two common activities each year are planned so all students should be given the opportunity to meet regularly, besides the general course in lightweight technology,. The general basic course in lightweight technology is mandatory for all graduate students in LIGHTer PhD network. The course is planned to be offered to 20 participants each year.
