Important results from the project

"Läxhjälpen´s digitization project", a collaboration between Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen, Mora municipality and Vinnova, was based on the problem that students in low populated municipalities are rarely reached by civil society initiatives as these are often aimed at big city areas and that these students often lack support to pass primary school. The project was therefore started with a focus on the UN´s sustainability goal 10, reduced inequality, and sustainability goal 4, a good education for all. This was done by digitizing Stiftelsen Läxhjälpen´s Homework Assistance Program.

Expected long term effects

The project started with 30 students in Mora and during the autumn of 2021, Läxhjälpen offers digital homework help to 165 students in Sweden. The project has developed a digital tool that has been distributed to ten municipalities. During the academic year 20/21, 71% of Läxhjälpen´s digital students went on to upper secondary school. During the project, Läxhjälpen identified a number of key factors for successful collaboration with the public sector, such as early anchoring, contact persons and the importance of having several points of contact.

Approach and implementation

The first phase of the project involved mapping of the need for digital homework help and the ingathering of experience, in consultation with a number of IT companies. Together a digital platform developed. Subsequently, the digital homework help was implemented in Mora municipality during the autumn of 2020. During the last phase of the project, spring 2021, the digital homework help started up in four new municipalities and by the autumn of 2021, digital homework help is available in a total of ten municipalities.
