Reference number
Coordinator Inuheat Group AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 597 000
Project duration April 2014 - May 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Inuheat has developed a heating system that clothing companies can design into their clothes, like in socks, gloves, winter underwear and more. It´s a complete ecosystem for heating garments and contains all parts needed for clothing manufacturers to easily get started - micro processor controlled battery packs, apparel attachment system, soft flexible heating element yarn and apps for remote control on the major smartphone systems.

Results and expected effects

A prototype series of 200 units were produced for testing over the winter and we are now preparing for a zero series of 5,000 units with the first delivery in September. Inuheat has now signed three-year contracts with customers in Europe and North America. The agreements cover a total of 300,000 units. Based on these agreements, Inuheat will in year 4 have a revenue of 60Mkr. In 2015 is the heating system used in six different types of socks. Already in the winter of 2016, we have expanded the platform to include underwear, gloves and hats.

Approach and implementation

The project is conducted together with Chalmers CIT, CTK, Swerea IVF and Swedish electronics and production expertise. This has been proved very important because the challenges have been considerable. The project has been research-intensive and has required significant resources to ensure the demands of high quality in the system. The proximity to local Swedish partners have been crucial.
