Important results from the project

This project focuses on investigating the possibility of integrating fiber optic sensors into filament wound insulating components for high voltage apparatuses (72 to 1200 kV) consisting of polymer based composite material. The purpose of using fiber optics is to be able to monitor the status of the apparatuses and by this provide data for optimal use of these. This project focuses therefore primarily on how the fiber optic sensors can be included in the filament winding process and how the optic fiber will influence the electrical properties of the component.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
