Important results from the project

SMIG project objectives: - Create a joint smart test environment for the mining industry that integrates existing, new and future virtual and operational environments. - Evaluate the test environment by performing a numbers of Use Cases that uses the different parts of the test environment. The use cases also had specific purposes and goals for developing and testing their products, concepts and innovations. - Propose future operation and governance of the Integrated Smart Test environment for the mining industry. SMIG has reached its objectives.

Expected long term effects

The concept of SMIG, a player that can support test activities in the mining industry, has been developed, evaluated and the need for such a SMIG has been confirmed. A proposal for a long-term establishment has been delivered. SMIG has contributed to the specific tests, use cases, results in a positive and in several cases decisive way. More information can be found in the appendices and in the SMIG channel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC04eXt3j7Om8o7gNNY_bcrw In summary, the assessment is that expected effects have been met.

Approach and implementation

The project was divided into three work packages, WP1 for project management and dissemination, WP2 for development of the test environment. WP3 for testing in use cases. The schedule divided into three iterations. In each iteration, joint workshops were carried out, one for planning the iteration and one for reporting progress and results. The setup has worked well. Especially considering that the concept SMIG was initially a bit fuzzy at the edges but as the understanding of the objectives and goals converged and at the end of the project it was common.
