Important results from the project
The project has been based on the idea that there is a constellation that can transform powder-based technical solutions into products and that Sweden is a leading powder manufacturer. New value chains have been illustrated via seven physical demonstrators and solutions for improved powder control have been addressed. The project has also led to new project that carry on new identified challenges and it has also resulted in internationalisation with partners from the project.
Expected long term effects
Identification of existing technologies, roles of actors and driver/challenges have thus been the basis for direction and expected outcomes with focus on products for aerospace, automotive and industry. The scope has been to combine, tune and asses technologies for novel value chains where additive manufacturing alone or in combination with other processes provide the solution. The project has thus included the development of relevant such chains, test and demo as well as the knowledge integration across the constellation including as well small and medium companies.
Approach and implementation
The project has thus been done in the form of parallel workpackages addressing: additive manufacturing and related technique plus HIP and materials development, primarily for automative; MIM/HIP and later AM/HIP for aerospace; demonstration of powder control for additive manufacturing; design for AM and post-AM machining. In all workpackages companies have co-operated along value chains and companies, universities and institute have addressed joint topics involving a well small and medium size companies. Focus on demonstrators has been a strategy.
