Important results from the project
The project has implemented 7 different mobility as a service concepts in two blocks of flats with 240 apartments: - Two business models for residential car clubs. - Personal Travel Planning for residents - Written Communication and meetings with residents promoting mobility as a service. -Taxi discounts - Rental car promotional offers - Free public transport travel cards to residents - Two different models for electric cargo bikes as a service. The project is one of Sweden´s largest complete demonstrations of mobility as a service concepts.
Expected long term effects
The project has contributed to increased knowledge of how mobility as a service changes travel patterns, affects residential satisfaction and how it lowers construction costs. The project has contributed to: - make housing construction easier - give residents increased mobility. Car as a service makes it possible for residents to better control their travel costs and reduces the need to spend money to access a car. The solutions implemented lowers cost barriers to using public transport when also travelling by car on some journeys. - Reduce climate emissions.
Approach and implementation
Parking requirements was at the start of the project a frequently debated issue and a barrier to housing construction. During seven years the consortium including private housing developers, public authorities as well as specialist mobility advisors has sucessfully worked together. During this period of time several local authorities in Sweden has removed minimum parking requirements implementing mobility requirements. The work carried out illustrates that successful implemention of a new mobility approach to parking provision requires cooperation between stakeholders.
