Important results from the project
The Purpose of the project was to develop a process for production of high quality graphene made from biomass. The development started at TRL 3 and has increased to TRL 4 though the work done in the project. All process steps have been tested separately. The steps have been optimized and the design parameters are set. This has prepared us for the next step, which is a continuous labpilot. The project has also made further market contacts and initiatied essential co-operations with customers in preperation for the next phase.
Expected long term effects
We expected the work of this project to increase the TRL to level 4. This has now happened, which makes us ready to start a lab pilot that verifies a continuous process. We had also expected and have now created, a better picture of both the SRL and the MRL. This means that we can increase these levels in our next step when we will produce enough material to sell samples to our end customers´ R&D departments. A breakthrough in one of the process steps has led to the start of a patenting process.
Approach and implementation
The project has had 5 work packages where of four technology based and one focused on the market. All the packages have been managed by BDG. RISE has been working in three of the packages where they have been contributing with their knowledge of similar processes. RISE has also developed the application step in the process. The samples produced by RISE has been tested though all the steps of the process in order to find the windows in which the best results could be reached. This information has then been put into the design of the different process steps.
