Innovation platform Sustainable Stockholm, IPHS

Reference number
Coordinator Stockholms kommun - Stadshuset Stockholm
Funding from Vinnova SEK 6 650 000
Project duration September 2019 - December 2023
Status Ongoing

Purpose and goal

Extra efforts will be required when Innovation platform Sustainable Stockholm (IPHS) is shifted, moved and levelled up from the development office to the executive office (SLK). The purpose of levelling-up is to investigate the prerequisites of forming a coordinating function for innovation at SLK to further develop the governance and management of the city´s work on innovation for sustainable development. The coordinating function will concentrate on facilitating, learning, requirements and follow-up activities, promoting the city´s capacity for innovation capacity.

Expected results and effects

It is expected that IPHS phase three will strengthen the innovation capacity within the municipal organisations by clarifying the city´s governance and management aspects of innovation - as means for sustainable development. Such an effort requires coordination and improvements of the functions, tools, methods and strategic communication for innovation within the City. Furthermore, it is anticipated that IPHS phase three will strengthen the broader innovation system by clarifying, highlighting and create transparency of the city´s need for innovation.

Planned approach and implementation

The work within IPHS is enabled by five “work packages” that run in parallel as well as influencing each other. Work packages one and two are led and managed by SLK coordinating the work ahead for increased innovation capacity. This is supported by work packages three and four where SLK will develop tools and methods and strategic communication for increased innovation capacity. Work package five is led and managed by RISE composed of follow-up research with the aim of continuously contributing towards systematic, constructive and critical reflection on the work done within IPHS.
