Purpose and goal

The purpose and goal of the project was contribute to the strengthening of the innovative capacity of medical device companies in Sweden. The conference provided a forum for decision makers in government, parliament, agencies, universities, healthcare and business. This arena helped to increase knowledge of the needs of and opportunities in an innovative and growing medical device industry, and what this could mean for Sweden´s competitiveness as well as for the development of an innovative and value-based healthcare.

Results and expected effects

72 people attended the conference and more people have access to the content via Swedish Medtech´s website and through newsletters. The program was structured so that participants would get a better understanding of the development of medtech companies. The conference created a meeting arena where stakeholders could meet. To further involve all participants, we used an interactive web tool where participants could ask questions anonymously. The questions made the conversation more inclusive and gave the audience easy access to the speakers.

Approach and implementation

The conference focused on research and innovation that is relevant for company growth in Sweden. The conference included participants from all relevant actors such as national and regional politicians and officials, agencies, medical device companies with R&D in Sweden, universities and institutes. Questions raised and issues that were up for discussion will be included in the Swedish Medtech prelude to upcoming research and innovation bill.
