Call Impact Innovation: Increased resource efficiency and resilience, stage 1

Purpose and goal

Remanufacturing has great potential for scale-up and profitability and can significantly reduce the environmental impact of products. It also contributes to resilience in society. The pilot study Innovate for remanufacturing aims to initiate, innovate and facilitate remanufacturing by providing expertise and infrastructure as an arena for innovative remanufacturing with the aim of contributing to the transition to resource-efficient, circular and sustainable resource use.

Expected effects and result

The project intends to: - practically test and disassemble products in different testbed environments - identify opportunities to innovate design, material, process, product and production for remanufacturing - introduce and provide inspiration to industry players who want to explore remanufacturing - disseminate lessons learned to the industry widely through public material

Planned approach and implementation

In the project companies and researchers together innovate by dismantling products in testbed environments in order to use expertise, technology and equipment to question established practices and together innovate for remanufacturing in design, product and production. The project includes an educational module for introduction and inspiration to industry actors who want to explore remanufacturing as an opportunity for increased resource efficiency and resilience in their practices.
