Purpose and goal
Poor mobile coverage indoors in newly-built energy-efficient buildings affects thousands of households and their respective residents in Sweden. Many more tenants can get affected as the energy-efficient construction expands. The project has shown i pilot buildings that the coverage can be improved both in the apartments and public spaces for most of the residents with simpler technical solutions even in existing buildings. Voice and data services can be delivered to the user indoor in a number of complementary ways.
Expected results and effects
The project has identified and tested a number of solutions for voice and data delivery indoors in pilot trials. Projected has also elaborated a number of corresponding business models for shared ownership and operation of the solutions. Projected has updated knowledge on the electromagnetic properties of modern construction materials and components and how those properties can be improved. The project has also made a comprehensive effort to bring the competence about the technical and economical solutions to the stakeholders; which has already resulted in follow-up projects.
Planned approach and implementation
The project consisted of project and affiliated partners from various industries who contributed with technical and other competences as well as pilot sites. The pilot site residents took an active part in answering questions on the coverage and providing feedback to the technical partners. RISE Acreo had overall project leadership and summarized the results. The project also exchanged opinions on technical, business, administrative and regulatory aspects with - Real-estate developers, owners and managers - PTS and MSB - National mobile operators - Other stakeholders
