Call Impact Innovation: Preparatory project for a reformed public sector

Purpose and goal

Despite the legal responsibility to ensure that crisis information reaches the entire population, studies show that this information is often inaccessible to people with disabilities. The aim of the project is to investigate how crisis information can become more inclusive and reach the target group more effectively. This will be achieved by including accessibility from the outset and increasing collaboration between authorities and disability rights organisations.

Expected effects and result

The expected effects are that authorities at all levels will be able to work more proactively to build accessibility into planning, procedures and information flows when it comes to crisis information. The concrete result of the project is a mapping of existing procedures and practical recommendations for how accessibility can be improved through increased collaboration and systematic inclusion of end-users.

Planned approach and implementation

The approach is based on creating a holistic view of the flow of information and involving people with disabilities as key co-researchers. In addition to the project partners, municipal and national authorities, as well as organisations representing people with disabilities, will participate and contribute to identifying solutions. The project goes beyond technical standards to create structural collaboration and user involvement in the authorities´ regular activities.
