Important results from the project

The project contributed to increased discussion and understanding of how people intuitively communicate with autonomous vehicles and robots. It resulted in a prototype for a common language between humans and robots and highlighted key challenges and important research questions. The project also created engagement and dialogue, which has led to new collaborations and continued dissemination of the results.

Expected long term effects

The results of the project are expected to encourage dialogue on communication between humans and autonomous vehicles/robots and inspire both ongoing and future research in the field. In the long term, this may provide decision-makers with valuable insights for setting requirements, development, and integration of autonomous solutions with a human-centered approach.

Approach and implementation

By allowing people of different backgrounds, genders, and ages to intuitively interact with an autonomous mobile robot, a prototype was developed in the form of a language between humans and autonomous vehicles/robots. Throughout the project, thoughts and reflections were also gathered from various target groups to identify opportunities and challenges regarding communication between humans and autonomous vehicles/robots.
