Project duration December 2013 - December 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose is to lobby for PiiAs area for the design of calls within Horizon 2020 to a stronger involvement in European research projects. Therefore Sweden also have a driving role in the EU area Piia. HoPiiA has successfully met the project objectives to Formulate the area´s specific research interests - with a handful of proposals to calls Identify programs of interest to affect - (SPIRE) Establish contacts between PiiA and relevant functions at national and EU level Communicate the contents in the right fora and at the right time

Results and expected effects

The ultimate receipt for the project´s achievement is that one of the texts that was written in HoPiiA is found as a topic in the call INDUSTRY 2020 IN THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY, namely SPIRE-02-2016: ´Plant-Wide Monitoring and Control of data-intensive processes´. It remains to see if the effect are achieved when the proposals submitted January 21st 2016 are evaluated, but we are aware of several Swedish consortia with applications in the call. Another effect that has already been realized is that PiiA is well known in the relevant parts of the EU Commission´s administration.

Approach and implementation

The most successful way for advocacy has been the direct contacts with the Commission officials. The project activities gave an immediate impact. We have also had contact with the Swedish reference groups and written input to other Work Programs (NMBP, transportation and ICT). We have also had contact with the Swedish Representative of the Advisory Group for NMBP. Through A.SPIRE and ARTEMIS-IA, we have also contributed to their strategic plans (MASRIA). But the special working group within A.SPIRE designed to work with ICT in the process industry didn´t become useful for these ends.
