Important results from the project
Hard Rock Tour 2019. The purpose was to increase the attractiveness of mining educations at Luleå University of Technology. The goals was to increase the number of students, create awareness, understanding, and interest in the target group for long-term competence in the mining industry. The main focus was Norrbotten and Västerbotten, educate people that are considered more likely to remain in the region after graduation. Analysis of 2020 application round shows positive effects, with parallels to completed project.
Expected long term effects
In line with the expected outcome, 16 visits were planned, 13 were confirmed. Due to Covid-19 majority of the visits were canceled with the hope of being able to reschedule at a later time, attempts were made to reinvent visits into digital versions. A total of 7 visits were made, of which 1 via distance. Analysis of 2020 application round shows positive effects, with parallels to completed project.
Approach and implementation
Hard Rock Tour 2019 academic year 19/20 with a new concept. Previous strain to gain access to classroom time was solved via a guest lecture concept. Teachers from LTU held lectures or practical lessons that could be applied or contribute to the high school´s already existing elements. Focus on learning and education, awaken interest, create knowledge, and understanding of the education area and the mining industry. The concept was appreciated and encouraged by the region´s high schools.
