Global Optimisation for Distributed Embedded Systems

Reference number
Coordinator Enea Services Stockholm AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 404 000
Project duration January 2010 - October 2011
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

GEODES (Global Energy Optimization for Distributed Embedded Systems)extended part and belongs to GEODES 2008-02092. The objective is the power awareness. The project will provide design techniques, embedded software and accompanying tools needed to face the challenge of allowing long power autonomy for feature-rich and connected embedded software systems, which are becoming pervasive and whose use is rising significantly. To identify methods, models and technologies for embedded systems that will support energy effective systems.

Expected results and effects

GEODES is covering following aspects: Power aware protocols Power aware operating systems Middleware developments (QoS) Low power compilation System level modeling (SystemC)

Planned approach and implementation

Project Report ´D1.2 Technological SoA report´. Enea will focus on the protocol. With experience of development of realtime embedded operating systems at Enea and skills in building platforms. Main focus is at this moment to participate in tasks regarding identifying requirement, mapping existing technology resulting in defining the tactical decisions, a specification. OSE already integrate power management. WP2: More advanced work on the SW platform: Power aware filesystems with graphic support(Linux &OSE). WP4: Participation in the fire man demonstrator will improve middleware layer for power management
