Reference number
Coordinator CHALMERS TEKNISKA HÖGSKOLA AKTIEBOLAG - Institutionen för mikroteknologi och nanovetenskap
Funding from Vinnova SEK 14 000 000
Project duration January 2015 - December 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The mission of GHz Centre is to conduct joint research in selected high-frequency technologies and bring the results from Chalmers and the research institute to an industrial exploitation phase, in particular via its partners. The goals for Stage 4 (Stage 1-4): 40 (180) publications in international journals and conferences. Goal achieved: 44 (200) 5 (15) transfer of technology from Chalmers and institute to companies. Goal partly achieved (2) and almost fully (14) 4 (10) examined PhDs: Partly achieved: 2 and much more than targeted (14)

Expected results and effects

We have developed new knowledge in microwave electronics and educated new PhDs in 5 projects. This has been utilized by enterprises in various ways: Employments, patents, technology transfer, and growth. At Chalmers, we have published results in scientific journals and we have examined new PhDs.

Planned approach and implementation

The strategy has been to jointly perform research in five technical projects on microwave technology between Chalmers and several industrial partners differing in business, geographical origin and size. Key end users are found in telecom, security and space, all crucial for wireless systems thus Swedish competitiveness. The strategy has been most successful with large involvement and collaboration between participating researchers and industries. This is proved by industrial impact indicators, scientific publications, PhDs and concrete cases, so called success stories.
