Purpose and goal

The goal of the Geo Life Region is to in the Gavleborg region combine knowledge areas geospatial information solutions and Public Health to develop new services, processes, and applications for the benefit of citizens´ ability to have a healthy and prosperous life. The result should be an international height, and early seek an international market. During the first three years has laid the groundwork for this. Research projects have been started together with the care, among others in the form of Sensing city. An international network of researchers has been formed and meets annually.

Expected results and effects

The creation of Geo Life Region is expected, beyond the initiation of specific projects, to have a positive impact on the regional innovation system and its development. Further work is expected to take effect on the research carried out in the region where the initiative has the focus of regional research but also attracts both national and international researchers to participate in the work. Connection to international research has been established. Collaboration with the University of Gävle is under construction and will be strengthened and further developed in the coming years.

Planned approach and implementation

The first three years the project has been conducted in three platforms; Internationalization, Renewal and Research. Internationalisation has been formed into a project to support micro-enterprises in their internationalization by developing a self-assessment method they can use. Renewal has been working to build management around healthy pilots and released gradually in the commercialization and the creation of living lab. Within the research platform an international network built up which will now be further developed in close collaboration with the University of Gävle.
