Purpose and goal
The project aims at digitizing the traditional retailer´s daily operations of physical stores. The project will produce 2-3 solutions prototypes, in close collaboration with staff members, and thereafter study the impact of the implemented solutions. Digitization of processes is identified as necessary in order to streamline the operations of physical stores and thus meet an increasingly converged trade, where digitization of the physical store is expected to be one of the corner stones of the future physical store´s role in a seamless customer journey for tomorrow´s consumers.
Expected results and effects
The solutions developed within the project are expected to provide quantifiable increases in store efficiency related to store operation processes and also lead to improved customer interaction on-site in physical stores as well as a seamless customer journey between e-commerce and physical stores. Furthermore, the parts of the solutions aimed for staff members are expected to simplify operation, minimized administration and enabling back office systems to available out on the shop floor. The solution also lowers the threshold for general IT interaction for a wide range of users.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be carried out in close cooperation with retail staff members and bolt-on to support existing store processes. Step by step in a process with a clear iterative character, the project will develop and test solution prototypes that are bi-weekly put into testing operations in the real by the project targeted retail environment. The project is managed by the project partners´ experienced participants in the respective area of expertise, but also engages, through third-party consultants, excellence in both development and service design to ensure the expected outcome.
