Venture Advanced digitalization - Industrial needs-driven innovation
Call Advanced digitalization - Industrial demand-driven innovation 2025 (round two)

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to develop future-proof, bearer-agnostic overlay networks that enable robust and secure communication between IP-based civilian and military networks such as Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, and satellite in areas with limited connectivity. The goal is to develop resilient communication solutions that address cybersecurity, post-quantum protection, encryption and to pilot test these solutions in relevant use cases, including prehospital care, military exercises, and rescue operations.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to deliver robust, future-proof communication solutions that increase digital resilience and cybersecurity, protect critical infrastructure and sensitive data against quantum computer threats and strengthen total defense capabilities. Pilot demonstrations in relevant environments provide the basis for broad implementation. The project promotes innovation, new business opportunities and gender equality by enabling more women to engage in digital communication.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be executed in five work packages: management, scenarios and requirements, post-quantum protection, system integration, and pilot demonstrations. Activities include requirements collocation, designing and developing secure overlay networks, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing, and testing in both lab and field. Solutions will be validated in use cases such as prehospital care, military exercises, and rescue operations to ensure robustness and interoperability.
