Purpose and goal
In this project the hypothesis is tested that friction stir welding is a suitable method for hybrid joining of metals to polymers including composites. Friction stir welding is an established joining method for aluminium. A limited number of trials are presented in the literature for friction stir welding of polymer substrates to themselves. In this project the possibilities are studied to friction stir weld hybrid substrates of metals to polymers.
