Purpose and goal

The overall purpose of the project is to reduce the environmental impact of concrete foundations. The main purpose of the project was to create the basis for the product to be confirmed or dismissed as a competitive product on the market. Work has shown that it is quite possible to compete with traditional foundational methods under certain conditions. The manufacturing method of wood slabs that should be used regarding environmental impact has little significance in relation to the change the foundation from concrete to wood regarding environmental impact.

Expected results and effects

The result of the work has shown that it is possible to compete with traditional methods under certain conditions. Which method of manufacture of wood slabs that should be used with regard to environmental impact has less significance in relation to the change of environmental impact it entails to switch from concrete to wood. Today, there are a 3-4 manufacturing methods and the choice of method depends on assessed market potential, investments and risk management. Technically, the project carried out measurements of moisture in the plate with good results.

Planned approach and implementation

The work has been based on several work packages, technology studies, manufacturing process, adaptation to existing wall types and installations. The issues have been addressed within the working group and the results have been addressed within the technology group for small houses (via TMF). Small house manufacturers have seen the product in general but are not willing to start production in the first stage.
