Important results from the project
Purpose To test a quick route of crediting a Swedish university degree for immigrants that have a foreign degree. This should facilitate their involvement with the Swedish labour market. Goal A studied and tested model of how immigrants can be quickly credited Swedish degrees as an alternative to getting their foreign degrees validated. The model has been studied and pilot tests have been started but not yet implemented and completed. The project has however initiated processes that we believe will lead to fulfilled purpose in the long run.
Expected long term effects
That immigrants with foreign academic degree achieve quicker access to the Swedish labour market which in turn increases their possibilities to quickly integrate into the Swedish society, achieve a better personal economy and achieve a better psychosocial health. That the adjustment to Swedish professional career accelerates among the individuals that have completed a number of courses within Swedish universities. The proportion of women migrants with foreign academic education establishing themselves on the Swedish labor market will increased.
Approach and implementation
Dec 2015 - Jan 2016: The concept was studied b in detail (suitable clients for the commissioned education were found, and suitable academic degrees and institutions for pilot tests were selected) and local AF offices were contacted. Apr 2016 - Jun 2016: Attempt to launch a pilot at BTH and HKR in collaboration with AF. The attempt at BTH was disrupted because of personnel changes. However, the attempt provided the project with knowledge about the target group. Attempts at HKR have been started and continue during the autumn.
