Important results from the project

The purpose of EQUA´s participation in Arrowhead tools was to help develop and apply the methods for the construction industry in line with the general goals of the overall project. Within the project, we have developed and implemented functionality to be able to connect a simulation model of a building in real time to sensor data in order to be able to follow the condition of the building. This information has then been able to be used, e.g. for fault detection and to provide virtual metrics in the service-based infrastructure Arrowhead framework.

Expected long term effects

The objective of producing a demonstrator for Building Tracker-teknologin has been successfully achieved. The use of the Arrowhead framework in the application has also been successfully demonstrated in a lab environment. The Building Tracker technology has been installed and tested at three individual buildings. The software developed within the project complements the previously established building simulator IDA-ICE with the components that enable the use of simulation models developed for energy-efficient design also in later phases of the buildings´ life cycle.

Approach and implementation

EQUA´s role has been to develop the software, the cloud environment and related services based on EQUA´s existing (market-leading) simulation tools IDA Indoor Climate and Energy. EQUA has, in close collaboration with project partners in Austria and Switzerland, contributed to developing building models and the necessary software for connecting this with actual measurements from building automation systems at three different buildings including an actual office building at Infineon in Villach, Austria; the main object of the project´s final demonstrator.
