Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Recognizing that Sweden until recently accepted a large number of refugees and that there at present is an increasing demand for skilled professionals in the Stockholm tech-scene this project was put together in order to develop a model by which employers can hire skilled individuals still in the asylum seeking process. The modell was developed in cooperation with representatives from both immigrants and employers. A number of activities for both candidates and employers have been carried out and we currently look forward to the real breakthrough in numbers of opportunities created.

Expected results and effects

Should the model developed in this project establish itself on a larger scale the positive effects are on many levels. Individual level fast integration through finding work; Employer level skilled professionals found; Societal level decrease in costs for social exclusion, increase in tax revenues.

Planned approach and implementation

The project started with gathering profiles of asylum seekers with relevant IT-background. Personal counseling was carried out for about 50 individuals. A mapping of companies in the tech-scene was carried out in order for us to better understand how they previously have worked with the target group and how they would like to see future solutions. The model for fast employment was developed. A large event where candidates and employers had the opportunity to meet took place in May. About 30 companies and 25 candidates attended.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
