Important results from the project

Under this project, a module for control and driving of tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, TDLAS-platform, was developed. The platform was specifically developed for integration in a medical device, NEOLA, for continuous monitoring of the lungs of preterm born infants. The measurement application implies specific functional requirements tough requirements on performance and robustness.

Expected long term effects

Functional and performance requirements have been verified in a first batch of the assembled platform. Documentation have been produced for manufacturing and integration of the platform in NEOLA. Based on the results of the project, we assess that the development of the medical device can be completed. Since the specified requirements of the platform are unique when compared to existing platform, the result of this project enables both new applications and improvement of already existing ones.

Approach and implementation

The realization of the project made use of the core competence of the two contributing parties. With the experience from one of the parties of the application and resulting medical device, a clear requirements specification was developed early. In parallel, the expertise from the other party in advanced electronics and software was used to test new concepts and solutions to match the requirements. This way, technical risks were minimized before ordering assembled PCBs with associated lead times.
