Purpose and goal

The project´s primary goal was to survey Digisam´s agencies concerned to identify datasets of potential reference interest, and with support of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) make a selection of these available as linkable open data. The goal is achieved as the prioritised data sets - lists of historical figures are now published by the KTH, at diska.ece.kth.se We think that the project has also, within the memory sector, contributed to a deeper understanding of the value of open data and strengthening networks with the KTH.

Results and expected effects

As a result of the project we now have a comprehensive inventory of potentially interesting data sets (122) from the agencies concerned, a selection of these data sets are published as rdf (for the time being at the KTH), as well as one purely analog register (from KB´s chapbook Collection) transformed to structured digital form. At an open seminar in February the process and results will be presented to agencies concerned, and we will keep promoting the widest possible use of these ´new´ resources.

Approach and implementation

The initial survey was carried out by personal visits and interviews with key staff in 20 agencies. Finding the right people and arranging the dates took some time, but we think it was well worth it. The more technical phase at the KTH has run according to plan. An expert panel representing four of the agencies concerned have been following the process and contributed more actively especially on the prioritization of data sets and publishing platform.
