Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project has largely met and in some cases exceeded the target. The validation of the previously recorded high level of germination has been performed in new field trials in Finland and Sweden. We have developed (specified) the design of an economically and technically feasible sowing unit for mass production. We have applied for a patent and obtained a trademark protection for the sowing unit - SeedPAD. A small scale commercial launch of the sowing unit have begun in Finland and Sweden.

Results and expected effects

We have in the project: 1) Validated the previous recorded high germination results with new field trials in both Finland and Sweden. 2) Developed (specified) the design of an economically and technically feasible unit for mass scale production. 3) Applied for a patent for our new sowing technology. 4) Obtained a trademark protection for the technology - SeedPAD. These results have together made it possible to proceed with the development of a large-scale mechanized production process and extensive nationwide field trials in 2015 (Project Forest Seed II).

Approach and implementation

Critical factors for the success of the project has been the good cooperation with Sveaskog and our German partners. In close collaboration with our German partners, we have been able to specify the configuration of the sowing unit to be technical and economical possible to produce in large numbers. Thanks to the cooperation with Sveaskog we have also been able to verify the technology in large field trials in both Sweden and Finland.
