Important results from the project
The aim is development processes based on feedback, models and digitized knowledge. With models that support understanding and communication, the goal is to reduce the gap between different stakeholders in development and production. The feasibility study has compared working methods and needs in assembly and machining and begun to characterize different scenarios based on the type of product; life cycle phase; stakeholders; and information. A longer project is planned to develop general principles as well as implemented solutions for model-based collaboration.
Expected long term effects
The project has produced a basis for characterizing information management within product realization. The expected effect is that the gap between development and production can be radically reduced and contribute to sustainable competitiveness through reduced communication losses and increased innovation through smoother communication around models. General principles for model-based collaboration are also the basis for business models and industrial ecosystems with collaboration across organizations, data sharing and information services.
Approach and implementation
Results from previous research projects, together with needs and ideas from the work packages, were presented and discussed in 6 work meetings together with participants from all parties. It has been a challenge to sustain a creative discussion at a distance, via video calls. But thanks to gook will and the digital collaboration tool Miro, the interest has nevertheless been great and has resulted in a good discussion between different disciplines in assembly and machining, and between different organizations. Hopefully we will soon be able to work in physical meetings.
