Important results from the project
The aim of the project is to introduce programming as a natural part of the classroom activities used by all teachers independent of subject. The project has developed and implemented in-service training courses for teachers. Participants range from primary through upper secondary school. During the courses the teachers have: (1) practiced their programming skills and gained confidence in working with combining programming skills with various subjects in the classroom (2) developed an approach and strategy for disseminating knowledge at their school through peer learning
Expected long term effects
Within the project we have developed and implemented in-service training courses where the participating teachers have: - acquired basic skills in programming - developed a pedagogical approach to use programming skills as part of their teaching, and implemented it in the classroom with their students - contributed to spreading programming skills and pedagogy to colleagues through peer teaching - evaluated, revised, and documented best practices for working with programming - contributed to a network of knowledge disseminators within the public educational system
Approach and implementation
The project developed and completed two courses for teachers from primary school to high school. Course 1, Programming competence in the classroom focused on the teacher´s own programming skills and the development, implementation and evaluation of classroom projects. Course 2, Dissemination of programming competence through peer learning´, focused on disseminating programming skills through peer learning at their own school. In addition meetings were organized where the teachers presented and shared their experiences and projects.
