Purpose and goal

The project´s goal was to develop the Digital Health Days - an international conference which premiered in 2013. The aim is to create an annual venue that complements existing conferences in eHealth through a clear focus on innovation and implementation of new technology and new processes. This year´s conference gathered 524 participants from sectors relevant for the future of health care such as life science, ICT and creative industries. The much appreciated main themes included patient involvement; value creation´big data´; and implementation of innovation.

Results and expected effects

Digital Health Days created a place for new meetings and discussions of solutions and business models in health and health care. We expect this to accelerate the emergence of an ecosystem where established companies, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, patients and caregivers can find optimal ways to collaborate. This year´s conference attracted participants from all these groups, and generated a lot of discussions, meetings and networking. Bringing these individuals togehter will increase the chances for new ideas, generating new products and services.

Approach and implementation

Stockholm Science City and Kista Science City worked with Stockholm International Fair to develop the program content. In a program committee included representatives from IBM, AbbVie, STING, Swedish ICT, Swedish Games Industry, Stockholm University, Karolinska Institutet, KTH, Flemingsberg Science, Swedish Medtech, Stockholm County Council, and entrepreneurs. Furthermore, some industrial partners were included in the program. It became obvious that many partners involved also requires considerable resources to ensure quality and relevance of the conference content.
