Important results from the project
World experience shows that key factors in the calculation of natural gas consumption between suppliers and consumers is not only the amount of natural gas but also quality indicators. Consumers of natural gas need a simple instrument , which gives the possibility to conduct express control of the quality of natural gas, since they ought to pay for the received energy, but not for the amount of gas used. The purpose of the project is to complete the development of the new UltraGasQ technology and instrument GasQMEter for express control of natural gas quality characteristics.
Expected long term effects
Within the EUREKA Eurostras project we plan to develop, manufacture the pilots of the new instrument GasQMEter and start market introduction. The new technology and the instrument will be relevant for industry and residential end-users in order to increase energy efficiency and ensure clear energy billing in gas consumption.
Approach and implementation
The background ideas of GasQ technology have been validated during previous successful experimental investigations and reached the stage of proven concept. The most important milestone deals with the application of nonlinear multi-parametric approximation of the calorific value of natural gas as a function of the ultrasound speed, ultrasound expansion and CO2 and HC concentration using artificial neural networks.
