Development of Intelligent Energy Service

Reference number
Coordinator NGENIC AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 500 000
Project duration July 2013 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The overall objective of the project was to exploit the identified commercial opportunities we have gained and discovered over the past years and increase our market share in the emerging market of intelligent energy services. The project has reached all the goals defined and the improvements and innovations developed during the project have in all cases been implemented in the new version of Ngenic Tune. The potential and available market has increased through a much larger heating system compatibility and a substantially increased ease of use.

Results and expected effects

The results from the activities performed have exceeded expectations. The Ngenic Tune system does now support more than twice as many geothermal heat pumps and it is also compatible with exhaust pumps, electric boilers and district heating controllers. The innovative connection solution and identification tool handles the physical variance found in the installations of heating systems. The improvement and re-design, focusing on energy efficiency, of the system hardware components has eliminated the need for new electrical installations.

Approach and implementation

The project was divided into three stages of approximately 6 months. Before each new stage the results from the previous stage and the original specifications and assumptions were reviewed and revised according to the new knowledge we gained during the stage. It enabled us to re-evaluate some of the original assumptions and focus the development in the stages on activities that immediately improved the product, made it more attractive, focusing on simplicity regarding ease of use and the installation process, there through increasing the available market.
