Project duration May 2013 - January 2014

Purpose and goal

The overall project objective is to develop a series of efficient, innovative and cost effective products based entirely on renewable raw materials, for the launch of a totally green product family in Gipecos range. The goal is to significantly strengthen our competitiveness in Sweden and in export markets. We have in the feasibility study formulated specifications for our new products. We have also successfully identified and evaluated a large number of raw materials that in our future project can be used for developing new products that meet the requirements.

Results and expected effects

The pilot study results means that we will be able to achieve the upcoming project´s five overarching goals. 1: Develop a new green product line based entirely on renewable raw materials. 2: Strengthen Gipecos competitiveness (our market investigation revealed that none of our competitors currently offer equivalent products). 3: Reducing our environmental footprint (renewable resources are actually available). 4: Improved products by using knowledge transfer and new technology / commodity. 5: Increase sales through new customers with international presence.

Approach and implementation

We have been successful in the feasibility study´s 7 stages. 1: Formulated requirement specification for i) price, function and use, ii) large scale production; iii) SIS Ecolabelling. 2: Identified green replacement components and data sets for these. 3: Discussed and made the initial selection. 4: Initiated business development with new customers. 5: Mapped competitors and not found any Swan-labeled products derived from completely renewable sources. 6: Conducted IPR novelty search / business intelligence. 7: Accessed strategy to protect earnings in our future project.
