Important results from the project
Suturion AB develops a sewing machine to increase the speed and precision of long surgical suture lines. As early as 1904, a French sewing machine was patented for surgical use and in the early days of laparoscopic surgery several solutions for surgical sewing machines were protected. In order to strengthen the protection around the sewing machine, we have developed an IP strategy based on strategic analysis and to combine patents and design protection.
Expected long term effects
The IP strategy will be able to be used both internally and vis-à-vis investors to describe how the intellectual property protection surrounding the sewing machine is currently and what opportunities are available to develop the protection.
Approach and implementation
The aim of the project was to develop a strategy intellectual property protection. The project was divided into three parts: Current situation: 1) Review and discussion of business plan 2) Identification and review of existing and intended products and inventions Strategic analysis: 1) Survey of similar or alternative technical solutions 2) Survey of competitors that solve similar problems with other technologies In the final section, the results were compiled in a written strategy report containing advice and recommendations on appropriate IP positioning.
