Purpose and goal

This project is aimed at a world-leading solution for Internet of Things, with the purposes (1) to identify new application areas of CultureBee besides cultural buildings, (2) to develop new functions to the CultureBee network towards Internet of Things, and (3) to prepare for market introduction of CultureBee, globally. After this project, CultureBee will be ready for a spin-off company having several products with clear niches for Internet of Things. With our successful establishment of the spin-off company Wiotech AB, the Project goal has been fulfilled to large extent.

Results and expected effects

We have successfully identified new application areas, e.g., applications in hospital and laboratory environments, we have successfully developed new functions and new versions of devices according to customer requirements, and we have successfully established a spin-off company WIOTECH AB (www.wiotech.se) and employed an external CEO of the company. Therefore, the project goal has been fulfilled to large extent. The continuation of this project to next step is thus transferred from Linköping university to WIOTECH AB now with a new project registration number at Vinnova.

Approach and implementation

(1) Market investigation, with a letter of intent from a potential customer received in the middle of 2012. (2) Registration of the spin-off company WIOTECH AB at Bolagsverket in August 2012. (4) All developed prototypes passed EMC test at SP in Borås in September 2012. (5) Successful delivery of 100 device units to the first customer in November 2012.
