Purpose and goal

The CRAFTERS project aim to provide a standardized, commercially exploitable ecosystem. The ecosystem is a tightly integrated multi-vendor solution and tool chain extending standards. Feature-limited releases of reference tools and platforms are made available under favourable licensing conditions to support the evaluation and adoption of the results. As direct effects of the project results 30% reduction of the total cost of ownership, 50% shorter time-to-market, and 30% decrease of the number of development assets are expected.

Expected results and effects

Marketable lead applications driving ecosystem development and benchmarking on the fields of industrial & intelligent transport systems, video & image processing, and wireless communications are produced. Key challenges include guaranteeing secure, reliable, and timely operation, back-annotation based forward system governance, tool-tool, tool-middleware, and middleware-hardware exchange interfaces, and energy management with minimal run-time overhead.

Planned approach and implementation

The project covers the whole spectrum of embedded development activities. Verification and Validation of the produced artifacts to ensure that the component of software meet the functional and non-functional requirements envisioned. In CRAFTERS, an even bigger problem is addressed as the overall goal promises huge advantages in terms of performance, flexibility and power efficiency. The project is focusing on seven use cases that will cover three main scenarions, image & video, industial & intelligent transport system and communication (Ultra Wide Band (UWB) & positioning.
