Purpose and goal

Region Jämtland Härjedalen, with the help of County Council of Västerbotten, sought to improve the accessibility of health care through Virtual Health Rooms and the development of reimbursement models. Two VHR are established, new patient fees for online meetings are introduced and there is an increased interest for new techniques in primary care. We initiated collaboration of primary and specialist care in interactive technology and continued discussion of change of reimbursement models. Discussions with the municipalities regarding financing alternatives is initiated.

Expected results and effects

A developed reimbursement model for primary care in discussion but not yet fulfilled. A way for stimulating the collaboration of primary and specialist care started. Means for financing healthcare and municipal care in rural areas where communities´ and county councils´ combined resources stimulate desired development in discussion but not yet fulfilled.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has borne the following advantages: - Inspiration to establish Virtual Health Rooms (VHR) - Economic support for the implementation of VHR via consulting support - Offered effectiveness and ambition in the implementation of VHR - Developed collaboration with rural medical centres - Increased interest for new techniques in primary care - Discussion of reimbursement models with county councils - Consideration of incentives in current reimbursement models Not yet fulfilled: Reimbursement model development with communities for collaboration and innovation.
