Purpose and goal

To mobilize local needs in national coordination, and to identify possibilities for cross-platform solutions, of direct trade between end consumers and local producers, we have developed a prototype platform. The platform acts as a tool to start up local organization, where consumers preorder food directly from local producers and then pick up the goods on a local delivery point. The revenue model is transparent, membership driven and aims to let the money work locally. Local organizers will form the base for future organization.

Expected results and effects

This summer we conduct the first live tests supported by the prototype at 4-6 locations around Sweden. The platform is expected to have about 300 paying members before the end of the year, (now around 90) and a about 50´s local producers connected to the platform. (now around 30) In autumn we plan to begin work more intense with platform development, the creation of processes and support tools, and the subsequent expansion of the tests with upwards of 15 locally organized test locations. We are also having discussions about a future Scandinavian open source´- solution

Planned approach and implementation

For ten months we have worked with a nationwide workshop tour, exploring the possibilities and preconditions for trading directly from small-scale local producers to end consumers. How we can design new solutions. This complemented by participation in conferences, workshops, hackathon, through newsletters and field visits. The need for hands on solutions have been consistently, and questions about how and what must be considered was raised early. This call for discussions and workshops has taken its starting point in the economic model of CSA.
