Purpose and goal

The purpose and objectives of the Standinproject aim to develop future healthcare information. The project takes its starting point from the current situation and suggesting alternative future opportunities with international standards. The project results can then help to provide support to suppliers in their product development, make interoperability possible between different systems and solutions, and serve as a support in setting requirements from customers in a procurement process.

Expected results and effects

The proj has identified 70 relevant intl standards in healthcare. 18 of these are relevant standards for technical interoperability who has been the project´s main focus. These 18 have been described in depth. The proj describes the different standards, the opportunities and interdependencies and the need for continued work. The proj presents possible ways to shape the future of healthcare information systems through standardization based on the organization conditions and needs. The results have been presented nationally and internationally.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was carried out together with representatives of Swedish health care, companies, governmental agencies and national specialists in business development area. The project organsation consisted of a project group and both a reference group and a steering group. In addition to that external examiners have followed the work and given regular feedback on the project´s monthly reports. The project was carried out partly through meetings and teleconferencing. Status reports were written before the weekly meeting for the steering group.
