Purpose and goal

SP Technical Research Institute has the goal to start a long term collaboration with universities and institutes in the United States, which should lead to joint research and publications in within the field of smart grids and energy efficiency in commercial buildings. During the planning phase the project leader made a visit to San Francisco and a complete research proposal was sent to Vinnmer Marie Curie Outgoing. The project idea is a continuation of the doctoral thesis by the project leader. The proposed project will lead to strong qualification opportunities for the project leader.

Results and expected effects

The expected result is an approved research proposal to Marie Curie, a long-term partnership that to strengthen the international position for SP and also provide a qualification opportunity for the project leader. The project proposal is submitted. Strong collaboration opportunities and several contacts between SP, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and UC Berkeley have already been established during the planning phase of the project. A career development plan has been established for the planning of the qualification activities for the project leader.

Approach and implementation

During two weeks the project leader visited the organisations Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and Berkeley University in San Francisco. Interviews and presentations were conducted on both organisations as well as tours and viewing of the various lab resources. The project leader also held a lunchtime lecture at LBNL where all departments were invited. This proved to be a very successful approach. After the seminar several personal meetings were booked and the project leader had meetings with people from several different departments at LBNL.
