| Call | Visions for world-leading research and innovation in strategic technology areas |
Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project is to map actors, infrastructure and measures required to build a consortium that lays the foundation for a Swedish, and in the long term Nordic, ecosystem for fusion. The goal is to formulate an agenda for the next step: the formation of a center that brings together academia, industry, authorities and national infrastructures. The project will create the basis for Sweden to take a leading role in the development of clean, secure and competitive energy systems.
Expected effects and result
The work incl. defining roles and assignments, developing a time plan and formulating objectives for the cluster´s activities. In the long-term, the project is expected to contribute to increased industrial capacity, research and innovation and strengthened international positioning for Sweden in advanced energy tech. Expected effects incl. improved workforce, new markets for Swedish industry, and a stronger decision-making basis for Swedish and European energy policy and related climate goals.
Planned approach and implementation
Through workshops and strategic dialogues between the project partners, a plan will be developed for how Sweden can industrialize fusion and build a competitive ecosystem. The work includes mapping industrial actors, regulatory- and competence needs, and identifying collaboration opportunities within the Nordic region, the EU, as well as the cluster´s connection to the global fusion agenda. The project will also propose an advisory committee and plans to conduct visits to fusion-relevant actors.
